Introduction to Granules

Granules are a specific form of polymeric materials in which polymers are converted from a powder form into small, uniform pellets, making the use of polymeric materials easier and more efficient.
Polymers produced in petrochemical industries are converted into granules in order to facilitate transportation and processing and to reduce material loss.

Granules may include a wide range of polymeric materials such as polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), polycarbonate (PC), and polyamide (PA), which are processed into granule form depending on their intended applications.

Granules can be produced from virgin or recycled polymeric materials. The use of recycled granules helps reduce plastic production costs and protect the environment.

Importance of Using Granules

One of the main reasons for using granules in industry is ease of handling and processing.
Polymeric powders may disperse in the air, causing environmental pollution, respiratory problems, and material loss, whereas granules do not present these issues.

Moreover, plastic forming machines are designed to operate more efficiently with granulated raw materials. For this reason, manufacturers prefer granules over powder forms.
In polymer product manufacturing, granules are first melted and then shaped or molded into final products.
